Ms. Murphy is a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney.  Attorneys may be designated by the New Jersey Supreme Court as “certified attorneys” if they: are able to demonstrate sufficient levels of experience, education, knowledge, and skill in a specific area of law or practice; have passed a rigorous examination; and have been recognized by their peers as having sufficient skills and reputation in the designated specialty.  Only 186 lawyers in the State of New Jersey are certified matrimonial law attorneys.

Ms. Murphy is also a Fellow to the American Academy of Matrimonial Attorneys. The Academy is the most prestigious divorce and family law bar association in the nation. Ms. Murphy is one of only approximately 60 family law attorneys in New Jersey selected.

Ms. Murphy is admitted to the bar in New Jersey, New York, and the District of Columbia. She is a voting member of the Family Law Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association, currently serving as one of five members of the General Legislation Committee. She previously served as co-chair of the Young Lawyers Section for the 2016-2017 year. Ms. Murphy is also currently serving a three-year term as an appointed member of the Monmouth County Family Law Committee. Ms. Murphy was elected as a Trustee for the Monmouth County Legal Aid Society for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 terms.

Ms. Murphy authors a monthly column, “Ask Cassie,” for the Navesink Journal. Ms. Murphy is an Associate Editor for New Jersey Family Lawyer, a publication of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Family Law Section. Several articles written by Ms. Murphy have been published in that periodical, including “Cohabitation and the Amended Alimony Statute: Has the Economic Needs Standard Been Replaced?,” which was published in the June 2016 edition. Ms. Murphy has also spoken at several seminars on issues relating to family law. Ms. Murphy recently co-authored the second edition of the book titled Divorce in New Jersey with named partner John P. Paone Jr.

Ms. Murphy is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Attorneys.

Ms. Murphy is a member of the Middlesex County, Monmouth County, and New Jersey State (Family Law Section) Bar Associations. She presently serves on the Middlesex County Family Law Committee. Before joining the firm, she served as clerk to the Hon. Lisa Perez-Friscia, J.S.C., Family Part, Bergen County, and practiced divorce and family law at the firm of Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti in Morristown.

Ms. Murphy earned her Bachelor’s Degree at University of Maryland, where she graduated summa cum laude as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her Juris Doctorate from University of Maryland School of Law, cum laude, where she served as an Associate Editor of the Maryland Law Journal of Race, Religion, Gender and Class.

Ms. Murphy has received the honor of being included in the Super Lawyers list published by Thomson Reuters for 2020- 2022. She was previously included in the Super Lawyers Rising Star list published by Thomson Reuters for the years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019*. In January of 2018, Ms. Murphy received the Martin Goldin Award for excellence in the practice of family law.
